We are a young and dynamic technical university in the heart of Lusatia, developing practical, science-based solutions to address major future challenges and global transformation processes.

Cottbus is undergoing a profound transformation. As the hub of regional structural change and global energy transition, the city is at the center of two of the most significant disruptive transformations of the late industrial era. The need for action is urgent, and time is of the essence.

At the Energy Innovation Center (EIZ), more than 70 researchers from BTU work together with an interdisciplinary network of partners, bringing together their expertise and perspectives. The EIZ focuses on innovative technologies and solutions for a climate-neutral, secure, and sustainable energy supply.

By connecting cutting-edge scientific research with concrete fields of application, the EIZ makes an important contribution to shaping both the energy transition and structural change in Lusatia. At the same time, the approaches and solutions developed at the EIZ provide valuable impetus for a sustainable energy supply far beyond the region.

We would like to strengthen our team at the Chair of Control Systems and Control Technology within the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Energy Systems and are therefore seeking a highly qualified and ambitious

Academic Staff Member (m/w/d)

Your area of responsibility includes in particular:

Research

  • Developing novel distributed observer and estimation methods for integrated energy systems
  • Designing algorithms that support the stable, secure, and efficient operation of interconnected electricity, heating, and hydrogen networks
  • Validating proposed approaches through simulation studies and experimental testing using the Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) facility of the COSYS Lab
  • Deriving practical recommendations for equipment manufacturers, system operators, and other stakeholders
  • Collaborating with research and industry partners within interdisciplinary project teams
  • Supporting project-related scientific and administrative activities
  • Publishing research results in leading international journals and presenting findings at major scientific conferences.

Your requirements profile:

  • A completed university degree (Master's degree, Diploma, or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, or a related field

The following personal skills are also an advantage:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and in a structured manner
  • Highly motivated to pursue academic and professional development, particularly within a doctoral research environment
  • Proactive, organized, and capable of contributing effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
