The Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) 1750 [in:just] ‘Inclusion - Recognition - Justice. Participation and Involvement in Processes of Growing Up’ will take an interdisciplinary approach to examine the conditions for educational equity in institutions of growing up in Germany. It is based at Goethe-Universität Frankfurt. Project A02 - Reactive attitudes and Emotions of Injustice - is based at the department of Philosophy at the Europa-Universität Flensburg. Project A02 is seeking to appoint (subject to funding approval) a

Doctoral Researcher (m/f/d)

from April 1, 2026 for the duration of the project, which is expected to last until December 31, 2029.

The philosophical project A02 provides a systematic conceptual and normative analysis of reactive attitudes and emotions of injustice in educational contexts. Based on philosophical theories of emotion A02 provides an analytical framework to analyze emotions of injustice, misrecognition and exclusion in educational contexts.

The position aims to promote a dissertation-project during part of the working hours.

Duties:

  • Systematic and organizational work on the abovementioned research project
  • Philosophical research within the framework of doctoral thesis in philosophy (PhD)
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration with theoretical and empirical projects of CRC in cooperation and consultation with the project management
  • Contributing to the project’s research activities
  • Participating in the CRC’s Integrated Research Training Group and in regular project meetings
  • Participating in the events and activities of the CRC in Frankfurt and the department of Philosophy at the Europa-Universität Flensburg

Your profile:

  • A university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Philosophy, with a minimum grade of “good”
  • Expertise in Philosophy of Emotions, Philosophy of Education and/or Social Philosophy
  • Very good English language skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Interest in interdisciplinary work, particularly with educational sciences
