Professorship for Education and Intervention in Childhood, Youth and Family

The professorship deals with the educational processes, life situations and support needs of children, young people and families in the face of increasingly heterogeneous and digital living environments in which educational and developmental processes take place today.

Within the framework of the professorship, these living environments of children and families are to be researched and theory-based and practical concepts for education, prevention and intervention are to be developed and communicated.

Your tasks

We are looking for a person who represents teaching, research and transfer in degree programmes in childhood education and social work, with particular expertise in:

  1. Childhood and youth education
  2. Intervention, in particular counselling for children, families and educational professionals, including in digital environments
  3. Networking and cooperation, e.g. between daycare centres, early intervention services, youth welfare services, family centres and schools.

Expertise in at least two of the following areas is also desirable:

  1. Shaping transitions between family, daycare centres and school
  2. Diversity and social inequality in childhood and youth
  3. Childhood in the context of digital change, media ethics & education, digital forms of family education & counselling
  4. Educational qualifications with regard to digitalisation.
  5. Counselling, case management and casuistry with multi-professional cooperation in educational and transitional situations (work at the interfaces of school, daycare, youth welfare and socio-spatial support settings)4. Peer learning, group, class and family projects and programmes5. Bridging functions between educational institutions, families, networks and neighbourhoods.

Your qualifications

In addition to the legal requirements for employment according to § 43 passage 1 points 1 to 3 and 4b of the Brandenburg University Act (Brandenburgisches Hochschulgesetz -BbgHG) you fulfil the following requirements:

  • a degree in education, social sciences or educational sciences or a relevant field of study and several years of relevant professional experience in early childhood education, school or youth welfare institutions
  • relevant achievements in the generation or application of scientific knowledge in the above-mentioned subject areas, demonstrated by the acquisition of or participation in research projects, development and model projects, evaluation studies or publications
  • relevant teaching experience in a university context and
  • very good German and English language skills.

Beyond that, we would like you to

  • further develop our didactic principle of research-led teaching through specific research and transfer formats that are interlinked with teaching,
  • be open to developing digital teaching formats and English-language courses,
  • be interested in interdisciplinary teaching, research and transfer into practice,
  • be committed to raising the profile of our focus area ‘Social Space: Education, Participation, Community’,
  • further expand our regional and international cooperation in teaching, research and practice, and
  • bring passion and resilience to teaching, research, transfer, academic self-administration and inclusive departmental development.
