Social work in formal, non-formal and informal educational contexts is a central component of contemporary strategies for promoting educational equity, social participation and sustainable educational success. In the school context in particular, social work makes a significant contribution to socially securing educational processes, supporting transitions, reducing disadvantages and creating inclusive learning and development conditions. At the same time, social work is effective in other educational settings such as daycare centres, family and community centres and youth clubs, where it supports educational processes at an early stage, anchors them in the everyday world and links them to family and social resources.
At the interface between education, child and youth welfare, and municipal structures, social work strengthens coherent educational biographies and makes a significant contribution to the opening up and social expansion of educational institutions.
