At Helmholtz Munich, we develop groundbreaking solutions for a healthier society in a rapidly changing world. We believe that diverse perspectives drive innovation. Through strong partnerships, we accelerate the transfer of new ideas from the lab to real-life applications, improving lives.

Your work provides the foundation for scientific discoveries with real impact, shaping the future of health.
The Communications & Strategic Relations (COMS) department is responsible for positioning the entire research center among relevant target groups, developing and implementing sophisticated communication measures with and for our excellent researchers – across all communication channels. In this way, we increase both the visibility of scientific achievements and the attractiveness of Helmholtz Munich as an employer and as a preferred cooperation partner for other research institutions, university hospitals, and companies. A wide range of information services for patients, children, and young people completes our portfolio.

To strengthen our Corporate Communication team, we are looking for a Corporate Communication Manager - Focus on Social Media and Press (f/m/x) to start as soon as possible.

Your tasks

  • You prepare research highlights in a clear and engaging way and communicate complex scientific topics in a manner that is easy to understand and tailored to specific target groups. You confidently differentiate by channel, format, and audience, and skillfully adapt your style for specialist audiences, media representatives, and the general public.
  • You write national and international press releases and proactively place our topics in relevant media outlets.
  • You coordinate collaboration with researchers, institutes, as well as internal and external partners, and provide communications support for relevant projects.
  • You strategically position our research topics in our digital channels and develop suitable storytelling formats tailored to target audiences.
  • You monitor and analyze current social media trends, tools, and features, assess their relevance for our center, and implement them operationally in our channels – data-driven, creative, and impact-oriented.

Your profile

  • You hold a university degree in communications/media, a technical or scientific field, and have experience in editorial content creation, ideally related to (bio-)medical topics.
  • You enjoy writing – and you write well: Your texts are precise, creative, and compelling, in both German and English.
  • You possess strong editorial skills, are proficient in storytelling for scientifically demanding content, and have a strong passion for presenting such content in a clear and engaging way on social media and our corporate website.
  • You are familiar with current social media formats and the relevant software tools, such as image editing, content management, audio, and video programs, as well as performance metrics analysis for evaluating success. Ideally, you have experience working with content management systems (TYPO3).
  • You are able to maintain an overview even when handling multiple topics and find it easy to prioritize.
  • You work as a team player and are skilled in working with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds and hierarchical levels.

If you fulfill all the requirements, you may be eligible for a salary grade of up to E 13. Social benefits are based on the Collective Wage Agreement for Public-Sector Employees (TVöD). This position is for a fixed term until 31.10.2027.

Managing Director Mike Frieser: „We believe that diversity is the key to groundbreaking research and innovative solutions. Our flexible working models and remote options create a supportive environment for balancing work and family life. For us, contributing to a healthier society in such an inspiring workplace is truly meaningful.“
