An unserer Geschichts- und Gesellschaftswissenschaftlichen Fakultät an der Professur für Politische Theorie ist zum 1. Oktober 2026 eine Teilzeitstelle (75%) als

wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter (m/w/d)

befristet für die Dauer von zunächst drei Jahren zu besetzen. Eine anschließende Weiterbeschäftigung wird angestrebt. Dienstort ist Eichstätt. Die Bezahlung erfolgt im Rahmen des privatrechtlichen Arbeitsverhältnisses bei gegebenen tariflichen Voraussetzungen nach Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L.

Die Möglichkeit zur Promotion ist gegeben und wird ausdrücklich gewünscht.

Ihre Aufgaben

• Unterstützung bei den Forschungsaktivitäten der Professur (u.a. Drittmittelinitiativen, Organisation von Tagungen und Workshops, Publikationsprojekte)
• Eigenständige Durchführung eines Promotionsprojekts
• Eigenverantwortliche Durchführung von Lehrveranstaltungen in den BA- und MA-Studiengängen der Fakultät
• Betreuung und Beratung von Studierenden, Abnahme von Prüfungen
• Mitwirkung in der akademischen Selbstverwaltung

Ihr Profil

• Zum Zeitpunkt der Einstellung ein mit sehr gutem bis gutem Erfolg abgeschlossenes Master-Studium der Politikwissenschaft (oder einem verwandten Fach)
• Bereitschaft zur Promotion zu einem Thema im Bereich der Politischen Theorie und Ideengeschichte, idealerweise anschlussfähig an das Forschungsprofil der Professur (insbesondere Demokratietheorie, Politische Theorie der Stadt, Demokratische Innovationen, Politik und Recht)
• Erwünscht sind erste Erfahrungen in der Unterstützung von Forschungs-, Publikations- und Drittmittelprojekten, nachgewiesen etwa durch eine Tätigkeit als studentische oder wissenschaftliche Hilfskraft
• Sehr gute Deutsch- und Englischkenntnisse in Wort und Schrift sowie die Bereitschaft, Lehrveranstaltungen auf Deutsch und Englisch durchzuführen

The Professorship of Political Theory at the KU Faculty of History and Social Sciences invites applications for a part-time position (75%) as

research associate (Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter (m/w/d))

to be filled by October 01, 2026, with an initial contract duration of 3 years with the envisaged option of an extension. The place of work shall be Eichstätt. The successful candidate will be employed in a private-law employment relationship, in which case remuneration will be according to pay grade E 13 TV-L provided that the requirements are met.

The successful candidate may also pursue doctoral research as part of their work if desired; the University is particularly interested in receiving applications from candidates who wish to make use of this opportunity.

Your tasks

• Support for the Professorship’s research activities (including third-party funding initiatives, organizing conferences and workshops, and publication projects)
• Independent completion of a doctoral project
• Independent delivery of courses in the Faculty’s Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs
• Student support and advising, administration of exams
• Contributions to academic self-administration

Your profile

• At the time of hiring, a Master’s degree in Political Science (or a related field) completed with very good or good grades
• Willingness to pursue a doctoral degree on a topic in the field of political theory and the history of ideas, ideally aligned with the Professorship’s research profile (in particular democratic theory, political theory of the city, democratic innovations, politics, and law)
• Preference will be given to candidates with initial experience in supporting research, publication, and third-party funded projects, as demonstrated, for example, by work as a student assistand or research associate
• Excellent written and spoken German and English skills, as well as a willingness to teach courses in German and English
