The Leibniz Institute for Financial Research SAFE - Sustainable Architecture for Finance in Europe - ) promotes scientific research, transfer work to the public and independent policy advice on all aspects relating to the structure and functioning of the financial system. It aims to contribute to strengthening a sustainable and resilient financial system that drives innovation and serves the needs of the economy and citizens. Researchers from the fields of economics, law, and political science collaborate at SAFE.
Your tasks:
- Assisting with data collection and preparation, especially historical macroeconomic and financial data, potentially from print or scans.
- Building and improving internally-used applications to aid AI-supported research processes.
- Assisting in the estimation of time series and forecasting models, such as Dynamic Factor Models, local projections, or alternatively applied microeconomic methods such as difference-in-differences.
- Contributing to documenting data and code on GitHub.
- Contributing to drafting presentations, reports, and policy briefs.
Your profile:
- Field of completed studies – completed studies are a prerequisite of remuneration in E13-TV-H
- Ideally a Master's degree in Economics, Banking, Finance, Accounting, Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Accounting, Data Science, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or equivalent
- Excellent performance in your field of study
- Research interest in Macro Finance topics
- Very good knowledge of the English language
- Experience with data analysis, applied statistics, or empirical research.
- Proven knowledge of Stata and Python
- Some knowledge of Ideafinancial databases like Refinitiv Eikon, Bloomberg, SNL, and Factset
- The ability to work independently and on your own initiative
- Genuine interest in macro-finance topics
- Flexibility and teamwork

You will be working in a very attractive working environment in the House of Finance at Goethe University with an enthusiastic team of colleagues. Compensation will be 70% of a full time position in accordance with the standards of the public services wage agreement of the State of Hesse (TV-H E 13). The employment contract has a duration of 1 year.
