Institution Faculty of Medicine - Anatomische Anstalt LST 1 Remuneration group TV-L E13 Full-time / Part-time Start date 1st April 2026 Application deadline 2026-01-31

brings together leading scientists in medicine (dermatology, pediatrics, internal medicine and surgery), molecular biology, immunology, biomedicine, and systems research to investigate fundamental mechanisms underlying development of diseases related to desmosome disorders.

Within the scope of this SFB/TRR several projects of the Department of Vegetative Anatomy of the LMU in Munich were approved. One of the projects C01 – „Role and mechanisms underlying desmoglein 2 truncation and deficiency in the intestinal epithelium“ will be carried out and led by Daniela Kugelmann and Nicolas Schlegel.

Project no C01

The aim of Project C01 is to investigate the consequences of desmoglein-2 (Dsg2) dysfunction in the intestine by analyzing the total loss of Dsg2 in an inducible, gut-specific mouse model and exploring the effects of patient-derived Dsg2 mutations as a model for digestive tract inflammation caused by primary desmosomal dysfunction in the intestinal epithelium.
