Interim Professorship (W2) (3 years) of Computer Science (Data Mining)

The Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics, and Statistics invites applications for an Interim Professorship (W2) (3 years) of Computer Science (Data Mining) commencing on April 1st, 2027.

This professorship is financed through the Thomas Bayes Fellowship program of the Munich Center for Maching Learning (MCML) for a period of three years.

The professorship will research on methods for unsupervised analysis of complex and high-dimensional data (clustering, outlier and anomaly detection, subspace clustering, multi-view clustering) by using techniques of deep learning. The teaching activities will comprise lectures on “Data Mining Algorithms” as well as “Algorithms and Data Structures” (in German) for Bachelor students, also seminars, practical courses and theses on topics from the research area. The professorship contributes to the supervision of doctoral candidates at the Chair of Database Systems and Data Mining and to offers for junior members of MCML. Teaching in the Bachelor program requires fluency in German.
