About us:

LMU researchers work at the highest level on the great questions affecting people, society, culture, the environment and technology — supported by experts in administration, IT and tech. Become part of LMU Munich!

Within the framework of the ERC Starting Grant-funded project on Controlling the synthesis and surface chemistry of perovskite quantum dots for the next-generation of quantum emitters, we are seeking a PhD candidate. This PhD candidate will focus on developing new tools to qualify and quantify the thermodynamics and kinetics that govern the many complex synthesis aspects of perovskite quantum dots, such as nucleation, growth, size and shape, and ligand binding.

Dr. Quinten Akkerman´s group at the LMU focuses on developing colloidal quantum dots, which hold immense power to chance the future of conventional light sources and quantum information technology. We explore various synthesis methods with in-situ spectroscopy to unravel the intricate chemistry that drives the synthesis of these tiny light emitters. We combine this with detailed studies of their optical properties, uncovering the many exciting excitonic features that nanometer-sized semiconductors exhibit.

The LMU Munich is committed to increasing the proportion of women among its academic staff and strongly encourages qualified women to apply.
