About us:

The Russo lab investigates how nuclear acyl-CoA metabolism regulates chromatin remodelling, transcription, and cellular plasticity in response to environmental changes. Our lab combines omics-based approaches, metabolite tracing, imaging, and biochemical techniques to explore how metabolic enzymes function within the nucleus and interact with chromatin factors.

Research Assistant (MSc / BSc / BTA / MTA / CTA) (m/f/x)

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • You enjoy working in a dynamic and international research environment.
  • You are motivated to contribute experimentally to the research projects of the team
  • You are keen to help organize the lab, manage reagent and consumable orders, and contribute to the establishment of the lab infrastructure.
  • You will conduct molecular biology, cell biology, and biochemical assays and complete experiments.
  • You will be trained to generate and maintain mammalian cell lines used in our projects.
  • You will prepare samples for next-generation sequencing and mass spectrometry (MS) analysis. Your contribution will streamline workflows with local genomics and proteomics facilities.
  • Ideally, you bring interest in or experience with structural biology and protein biochemistry.
  • You are interested in developing your own area of responsibility and learning new techniques.
  • During a three-month teaching period, you will support the practical training of medical and dental students as part of the departmental teaching responsibilities.

Your qualifications:

  • Completed education with a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in life sciences and/or training as a research technician (BTA, MTA, CTA or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in molecular, cell, and biochemical techniques is highly desirable.
  • Highly motivated, well-organized, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in English is mandatory. Basic knowledge of German is preferable.
