(S-0017) Assistant for IMPRS - Coordination Office

THE POSITION

The International Max Planck Research School on Earth System Modelling () is a joint graduate program of the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology and the Universität Hamburg. The program provides structured doctoral training for outstanding early-career researchers in the field of climate science and Earth system modelling.

Assistant for the Coordination Office (S-0017 | all genders)

The position comes with a fixed-term contract limited to initially two years.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

You will support the coordination of the IMPRS-ESM in administrative and organisational matters and contribute to the smooth operation of our international graduate programme. Working closely with the IMPRS team, Universität Hamburg, and (inter)national partners, your responsibilities will include in particular:

  • Overall administrative support of the IMPRS coordination office in a new recruitment initiative for outstanding Master’s students (Early Admittance Program), including the application and selection processes
  • Communication between University of Hamburg and the Max Planck Institute, particularly regarding teaching activities, scheduling, and curriculum organization
  • Co-organization and coordination of the annual international call for doctoral applications
  • Support of communication and day-to-day coordination with international doctoral researchers and fellows
  • Organization of scientific and social events within the IMPRS programme
  • Contribution to the development and maintenance of administrative processes, digital tools, and program infrastructure within the IMPRS Office

YOUR PROFILE

  • You have completed vocational training as a European secretary or foreign language correspondent, or vocational training with office management focus, or a completed Bachelor’s degree
  • Ideally, professional experience at university or non-university research institution
  • Structured, independent, and proactive working style
  • Team-oriented, reliable, and service-minded attitude
  • Confident use of common MS Office software
  • Excellent German and very good English skills, both written and spoken
