Ludwigsburg University of Education is one of six universities of education in Baden-Württemberg with approximately 6,000 students and more than 470 staff members. Ludwigsburg University of Education has university-equivalent status with the right to award doctorates and habilitations and focuses on educational science in research and teaching. Internationalisation is a key priority at Ludwigsburg University of Education. The advertised W3 professorship is located within the Faculty of Participation Sciences in the Department of Intellectual Disabilitiy and is responsible for the field of Education and Didactics.

Responsibilities:

  • Representing the field of Education and Didactics in area of Intellectual Disability in research and teaching
  • Teaching load (9 class hours per week) in the Special Education teacher training programme and in the special education Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes; it is appreciated when lectures are given in both German and English
  • Supervision of school-based practical studies for 4 hours per week during the lecture period
  • Participation in examinations
  • Involvement in the university’s self-governance, including actively contributing to the university’s holistic development, e.g., through participation in the work of committees and commissions, involvement in academic continuing education, and in the design and further development of academic programs
  • External funding acquisition

Requirements:

  • Completed university degree in special education (Diplom, teacher training degree, Magister/Master) or comparable degree programmes with a clear connection to Education and Didactics for people with Intellectual Disabilities
  • Outstanding aptitude for academic research demonstrated by a relevant and generally outstanding doctorate as well as a habilitation or equivalent academic achievements
  • Suitability for university teaching, generally demonstrated through experience in higher education teaching or participation in professional development in higher education didactics and an overall positive teaching evaluation
  • Relevant high-quality academic publications
  • Practical school experience in accordance with Section 47 (3) of the Baden-Württemberg State Higher Education Act (LHG BW)
  • Experience in securing external funding and managing research projects is a plus
  • We are looking for candidates with strong interpersonal and leadership skills, the ability to work in a team, communicate effectively, and resolve conflicts, as well as a willingness to take on responsibility and actively shape change

In all other respects, the official duties and appointment requirements set out in Sections 46 and 47 of the Baden-Württemberg State Higher Education Act (LHG BW), as amended, shall apply.
