In order to fill afixed-term position in full-time (41,00 hours/week = 100 %) at the earliest possible date, we are looking for a
Floer Fellow in Probability (m/f/x, in form of a position as an Academic Council, Akademischer RätinRat auf Zeit)
Our research group focuses on stochastic geometry. We study random spatial and geometric structures - from discrete to high-dimensional models - and analyze their asymptotic behavior using tools from probability theory, geometry and analysis. The group’s current research focuses on stochastic geometry, with a particular emphasis on models in hyperbolic space as well as discrete and high-dimensional aspects.

Your tasks:
- Independent research in a modern area of probability theory, preferably in stochastic geometry (in a wide sense)
- Participation in the teaching activities of the Faculty of Mathematics (4 hours/week per semester)
- Supervision of graduate students
- The position offers - and encourages - the opportunity for further academic qualification (e.g., a Habilitation).
Your profile:
- We are looking for applicants with an excellent PhD in mathematics, preferably in probability theory. Candidates with a strong background in geometry who enjoy engaging with probabilistic questions are also very welcome. Prior postdoctoral research experience is desirable.

The position is on a civil servant basis and is governed by the relevant civil service regulations, in particular the Landesbeamtengesetz (LBG NRW) and the Laufbahnverordnung (LVO).
Salary is in pay grade A13.

The place of work is Ruhr University Bochum.
