Security and Trustworthiness of Online Information

In order to fill a fixed-term position in full-time (39.83 hours/week = 100%) at the earliest possible date, we are looking for a

Searching for a postdoc (m/f/x) interested in researching the role of IoT devices in technology assisted domestic abuse

The lab's focus is on adversarial threats to digital information. We investigate how information is manipulated online and how machine learning contributes to and helps mitigate this manipulation. We study information-based attacks, algorithmic integrity, and adversarial machine learning, with the goal of restoring trust in digital information flows. Ideal candidates have a degree in computer science with a technical computer science background and a deep understanding of IoT devices. The candidate should have expertise in human-computer interaction and have publications in top-tier HCI and cybersecurity venues.

Scope: full-time
Duration: fixed-term, 3 years

  • Fundamental Academic Research
  • Publication of research results in leading international venues
  • Active collaboration with other group members and external research partners
  • Participation in academic events and conferences
  • Support in drafting and submitting research proposals
  • Supervision of bachelor and master students

Your profile:

  • PhD in Computer Science or related field
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English
  • Publication of research results in leading international venues in HCI and cybersecurity

The position is salaried and based on the collective agreement of the Länder (TV-L). If the personal and collective agreement requirements are met, the employee will receive pay grade E13 TV-L.

The place of work is Ruhr University Bochum.

If the position is funded by third-party funds the employee has no teaching obligation.
