SAMSON Materials Handling Ltd is a supplier of Bulk Material Handling systems to the ports, terminals, cement, mining, minerals, power and many more industries across the world.

We are seeking a Senior Sales Manager who will be responsible for the preparation and execution of the sales plan within their designated area of responsibility. This includes developing and maintaining sales channels, as well as promoting and selling SAMSON equipment to clients across various sectors and territories. The role involves understanding customer needs, providing relevant product information, developing customer-specific solutions, and fostering lasting relationships to drive sales revenue.

Senior Sales Manager (m/f/d)

Key responsibilities

  • Sales Planning: Develop and implement the sales plan for the designated area of responsibility, ensuring alignment with and contribution to the company’s overall sales strategy.
  • Sales Activities: Proactively identify and engage potential customers by establishing direct contacts, conducting sales visits, networking and attending industry events. Take ownership of and develop opportunities received through marketing channels. Drive sales and increase SAMSON Materials Handling Ltd (SMH) sales revenue in line with agreed targets. Negotiate acceptable terms of business with clients in favour of SMH.
  • Client Consultation: Consult with clients to understand their requirements and provide customised solutions that meet their needs.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Proposal Development: Take responsibility for developing customer-specific solutions and estimates, and for the preparation and submission of compelling sales proposals and product quotations to prospective clients.
  • Sales Partners: Form and maintain strong, positive relationships with existing sales and service partners. Continue the development of sales and service partners through regular engagement, training and joint customer visits. Develop “bid to win” strategies with sales partners for specific markets. Analyse current sales partners and report to SMH Management on their performance and suitability. Identify potential new sales partners and report these to SMH Management.
  • Product Knowledge: Gain, maintain and continuously improve in-depth knowledge of SMH equipment, including specifications, applications and market trends.
  • Market Research: Monitor industry trends and competitor activities in order to tailor sales strategies and tactics accordingly.
  • Internal Communication and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of sales activities and customer interactions within the CRM system, and report on sales performance. Communicate and interact effectively with the wider business. Report relevant product development opportunities and enhancements to SMH Management in a constructive manner.

Summary of essential requirements to fulfil the role

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in B2B sales, preferably within the industrial equipment sector, with a strong technical understanding.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confident public speaker with effective presentation skills.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation capabilities.
  • Proficient in the use of CRM software and other sales tools.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Customer-focused with an innovative mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of export markets and a willingness to travel at short notice.
  • Demonstrated desire and capability to support and enhance the performance of sales partners.
  • Willingness to take on additional challenges as they arise, while ensuring continuity of core roles and responsibilities.
  • Understanding of bulk handling equipment, combined with strong application knowledge and the ability to identify where the SMH range of solutions best fits clients’ operations, is an advantage.
