The professorship for High-Performance Materials is a key chair for research and teaching in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. In the core research area of mobility, and in particular aerospace technology, metallic materials that are subject to high thermal and mechanical stress are seen as a key requirement for future mobility and circular economy systems. Accordingly, the professorship is embedded in the research field of aerospace engineering at the university as well as in the Lower Saxony Research Centre for Aerospace (NFL) and the OpenHybrid-Lab-Factory (OHLF). With its scientific work, the professorship makes a significant contribution to the further development and characterisation of superalloys and lightweight materials, including metal-hybrid materials in production and application.
