The Institute of Integrated Circuits and Systems (IICS) represents the field of microelectronics and integrated circuits at the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH). We work in the broad area of integrated circuit (IC) design, with topics covering data converters, sensor interfaces and integrated sensing systems, energy-efficient wirelined and wireless transceivers, analog signal processing and analog computing, custom design techniques for edge AI etc.

We are looking for a PhD student in analog and mixed-signal design. The successful candidate will be employed as a full-time research associate at E-13 level. The research topic will be in the area of high-speed or energy-efficient integrated circuits and systems with applications in wireless/wirelined systems, biomedical interfaces, edge AI, etc. Compelling personal interest and proven capability of the successful candidate will be taken into consideration.

YOUR TASKS

  • Conduct independent research and demonstrate meaningful output
  • Perform teaching tasks independently and collaboratively (4hrs/week)
  • Write or prepare documentations for research, teaching, report, dissemination, and other relevant materials
  • Supervise master and bachelor students

YOUR PROFILE

Requirements

  • Completed scientific university studies with a master degree, in particular in the subject Microelectronics or Electrical Engineering

Desired knowledge and personal skills

  • Solid knowledge and background in analog and mixed-signal circuit design, previous tapeout experience is desirable.
  • Deep understanding of analog and digital signal processing methods and applications
  • Strong interest and proven capability in academic research, previous publication in decent journals/conferences is an advantage
  • Record and capability to work in a team and pick up new skills quickly
  • Excellent language skills in English, with German as an advantage
