Responsibilities

The Faculty of Education is offering a (W3) professorship for educational research with a focus on assessment within teaching and learning processes. The successful candidate is expected to research and teach in the respective area, with a focus on school-based teaching and learning processes especially with regard to potential barriers and difficult conditions.

In addition to research and teaching in the area of focus named above, the professor is also tasked with:

  • conducting relevant research on diagnostic assessments of teaching and learning processes with the goal of developing and reviewing valid concepts that take into account individual learning conditions and environmental opportunities and offers and their interplay with regard to disability, barriers, and disadvantages
  • demonstrating a willingness to cooperate with the subject areas taught within the Faculty of Education
  • participating in faculty and University research areas ()
  • actively participating in Hamburg’s teacher training programs at bachelor’s and master’s level, especially in the field of special needs education and pedagogical psychology
  • participating in the faculty’s internationalization and knowledge exchange activities.

Your profile

We are looking for a candidate with an outstanding academic track record and research experience in the professorship field.

We expect:

  • relevant theoretical contributions and empirical research as well as international scholarly experience in the field
  • a research focus on teaching and learning processes in at least one of the following areas:
  • diagnostic action with regard to disability and sociocultural or socioeconomic disadvantages
  • identification and analysis of risk factors and barriers to participation in educational settings
  • data-driven prevention and intervention measures

We also expect:

  • experience and success in the acquisition and implementation of externally funded projects
  • demonstrable teaching skills and university teaching experience
  • language skills sufficient for teaching in German (level C1). Level C1 may be obtained within the first 2 years of employment. The University of Hamburg is happy to assist you.
  • long-standing experience in managing staff and academic self-governance
