Research Associate for the Project “Electronic correlations in functionalized graphene on SiC” § 28 Subsection 3 HmbHG

Start date: 01.10.2026, fixed until 30.09.2029 (This is a fixed-term contract in accordance with Section 2 of the academic fixed-term labor contract act [Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz, WissZeitVG]).

Weekly hours: 75 % of standard work hours per week

Your responsibilities

Duties include academic services in the project named above. Research associates may also pursue further academic qualifications outside of their work responsibilities. They may also pursue doctoral studies outside of working duties.

Theoretical and computational research on electronic correlations in functionalized graphene on SiC, with a focus on numerical simulations at the interface between theory and experiment. The project combines ab initio approaches with model-based many-body methods. The position offers the possibility to pursue a doctoral degree.

Your profile

A university degree in a relevant field.

Master of Science in Physics, with experience in condensed matter physics and, ideally, theoretical solid-state physics.

Experience in the theory of strongly correlated systems using Green’s-function-based methods, such as dynamical mean-field theory, is desirable.
