Research Associate for the Project “Low-level clouds” on cloud-turbulence interaction and its role in global warming § 28 Subsection 3 HmbHG

Salary level: EGR. 13 TV-L

Start date: as soon as possible, fixed for a period of three years (This is a fixed-term contract in accordance with Section 2 of the academic fixed-term labor contract act [Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz, WissZeitVG]).

Weekly hours: 65 % of standard work hours per week

Your responsibilities

Duties include academic services in the project named above. Research associates may also pursue further academic qualifications outside of their work responsibilities. They may also pursue doctoral studies outside of working duties.

The position is part of the project “Low-level clouds” of the cluster of excellence “Climate, Climatic Change and Society II”, which aims to better constrain the response and climate impact of stratocumulus clouds. This position will focus on small-scale cloud-turbulence interaction and its adjustment to global warming. The work includes theoretical analysis and direct numerical simulations.

Your profile

A university degree in a relevant field.

The project-specific qualifications include fluid mechanics, turbulence, numerical methods and programming. Experience in an international and interdisciplinary environment would be beneficial.
