At the University of Kassel, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Institute of Structural Engineering - Geotechnical Engineering (Prof. Dr.-Ing. Oliver Reul), the following position is available with immediate effect:

Research Assistant (m/f/d), EG 13 TV-H, fixed term-position, part-time (currently 20 hours per week)

Part-time position with half the working hours of a full-time employee. This is a fixed term-position of three years with the possibility of extending the contract for a further two years (position for academic qualification corresponding to § 72 HessHG i. V. m. § 2 Abs. 1 Satz 1 WissZeitVG; opportunity for PhD project).

Tasks:

  • Independent work on a research project investigating the bearing behaviour of piled rafts
  • Services in teaching and research at the Department of Geotechnical Engineering
  • Participation in research projects carried out at the Department of Geotechnical Engineering

Requirements:

  • Completed course of academic study (Master degree) within the fiel of civil engineering with good to very good results. The required degree must be available by the recruitment date at the latest.
  • Excellent knowledge of geotechnical engineering and structural engineering
  • Excellent knowledge in the application of numerical methods in geotechnical engineering, especially FEM
  • Very good knowledge of English, both written and spoken
  • High level of commitment in supervising students
  • Particularly high motivation, independent working style and sense of responsibility

Beneficial additional qualifications:

  • Good knowledge of German, both written and spoken
  • Experience in the application of the FEM software numgeo, ABAQUS or Tochnog
  • Experience in the application of the program Matlab
  • Experience in the application of machine learning techniques
  • Knowledge of the bearing behaviour of foundations under static, cyclic and dynamic loading
  • Knowledge in the evaluation of geotechnical field tests
  • Knowledge in the evaluation of geotechnical model tests
  • A high level of organizational skills
