The position represents philosophy with a specialisation in theoretical philosophy, across the full breadth of the subject in both research and teaching. The candidate is expected to have systematic research interests in at least two of the following areas: continental philosophy of language, critical theory, philosophical anthropology, philosophy of nature or phenomenology. Furthermore, a historical area of competence is expected.
Teaching responsibilities include courses in the BA programmes in ‘Philosophy’ and ‘Philosophy – Sustainability – Critique’, the MA programme in ‘Philosophy: Environment – Society – Critique’, and the teacher training programme for secondary schools in the subject of Philosophy. Applicants are also expected to demonstrate an ability to engage with the research areas within the Institute of Philosophy, experience in interdisciplinary collaboration, and the ability to contribute to the University of Kassel’s key research priorities. The position’s responsibilities include supporting postgraduate research and participating in academic self-governance.
Requirements:
The appointment requirements are a PhD in Philosophy, university teaching experience, a relevant Habilitation or additional academic achievements in Philosophy, and publications. Proven teaching experience at universities in German or German language skills at least at C1 level are expected. Experience in securing external funding is desired.
The prerequisites for employment and performance requirements are determined by §§ 67, 68 of the Higher Education Act of the Federal State of Hesse (HessHG).
