The University of Marburg, founded in 1527, offers a variety of excellent programs of study for around 22,000 students and confronts the important topics of our time through excellent research across a broad spectrum of sciences.

The Department of Medicine, Translational Inflammation Research Division & Core Facility for Single Cell Multiomics, Head: Prof. Holger Garn, is currently accepting applications for a

PostDoc position for a Bioinformatician

The position is offered for a period of 3 years and 9 months. The starting date is April 1st 2026. The position is full-time with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV‑H E 14).

The Translational Inflammation Research Division & Core Facility for Single Cell Multiomics is part of the newly established Transregional Collaborative Research Center (CRC) 425 “DEFINE”
(). This multidisciplinary research consortium unites leading scientists in different areas of medicine, molecular biology, immunology, and systems research to uncover dynamic molecular and cellular mechanisms related to dysfunction of desmosomes by combining translational approaches and cutting-edge technologies.

The central project CP1 supports researchers in planning, conduct and evaluation of single cell multiomics and transcriptome analyses.

The overall goal of subproject CP1 is to support research teams of the CRC consortium from the development of optimal preanalytical workflows over the implementation of diverse single cell multiomics experiments and transctiptome analyses related to their specific research questions and finally the conduct of bioinformatic analyses of the obtained high-dimensional data sets. Moreover, PhD students and principal investigators of the consortium shall be educated and trained in aspects of single cell technologies and bioinformatic analytical approaches and procedures with focus on the evaluation of single cell sequencing data.

Tasks:

  • Performing bioinformatic analyses for single cell multiomics and transcriptome studies
  • Advising consortium members on optimal biometric and logistic planning of experiments with single cell sequencing and transcriptome analyses
  • Support in the implementation of single cell multiomics and transcriptome experiments
  • Development and establishment of standard operation procedures (SOPs) for above-mentioned processes
  • Communication and coordination of the experimental and analytical progress with CRC research teams and national and international collaboration partners
  • Education and training of consortium members on bioinformatic procedures and approaches

This is a project position that is not limited in duration in accordance with § 2 sec 1 WissZeitVG.
