The Institute of Integrative Cell Biology and Physiology in the Faculty of Biology at the University of Münster, Germany, is seeking to fill the position of a

Lecturer (Akademische Rätin/Akademischer Rat) (salary level A 13 LBesO)

is to be filled as of 1 July 2026. This is a permanent full-time position. The teaching load comprises nine semester hours per week (9 SWS).

Your tasks:

This position is responsible for teaching courses and organizing exams for the Bachelor's program in Biosciences, as well as the Master's programs in Molecular Biomedicine and Biosciences. Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to design and teach new courses in the area of data analysis using modern bioinformatics approaches.

Participation in the institute's research activities is expected, also through independent research and the acquisition of third-party funding.

Furthermore, the position holder will assume key organizational responsibilities within the Institute (e.g., equipment and infrastructure management, laboratory safety).

Our expectations:

  • Completed university degree and doctoral degree in biology, chemistry, physics, or bioinformatics.
  • Successful research work as a postdoctoral fellow in the field of cell biology, physiology, or AI-guided data analysis.
  • Experience in the design and delivery of independent university-level teaching.
  • Excellent command of English, strong organizational and communication skills, and a high degree of independence.
  • Experience with AI-based data analysis or modeling approaches is explicitly desired.
  • German language skills or the willingness to learn it is required.

To obtain civil-servant status (in accordance with § 41 LVO), candidates must be employed in a full-time position lasting three years and six months following his/her studies or lasting one year following the conferral of his/her doctoral degree. If the candidate has not yet fulfilled this prerequisite, he/she can be hired as a regular employee (EG 13 TV-L) with the option of obtaining civil-servant status at a later time. If the candidate fails to meet the other criteria for obtaining civil-servant status, he/she can remain employed permanently as a regular employee.
