The Institute of Art History at the University of Münster seeks to fill the following position by 1 February 2028:
The prospective candidate will be responsible for teaching the full scope of art history of the 19th to the 21st century in degree programmes offered at the Institute of Art History. The candidate is expected to conduct research with a focus on contemporary art and another art-related topic of the 19th century or first half of the 20th century. Both research focuses should be substantiated in the form of published monographs. Furthermore, the candidate is expected to participate in existing research partnerships, apply for participation in prospective research alliances, as well as carry out self-administrative academic duties.
To be considered for this position, the candidate must hold a university degree in art history, a highly outstanding doctoral degree and possess the requisite pedagogical aptitude. The candidate should be distinguished by further academic achievements, produced in connection with an assistant professorship (Juniorprofessur), habilitation or comparable postdoctoral qualification, as a member of the academic staff of a university or non-university research institute, or in a research position in business, industry, administration or other relevant field in Germany or abroad.
The University of Münster strongly supports equal opportunity and diversity. We welcome all applicants regardless of sex, nationality, ethnic or social background, religion or worldview, disability, age, sexual orientation or gender identity. We are committed to creating family-friendly working conditions. We actively encourage applications by women. Women with equivalent qualifications and academic achievements will be preferentially considered unless these are outweighed by reasons which necessitate the selection of another candidate.
