THESE ARE YOUR TASKS:

  • Research in the field of crop genetics with the aim of achieving scientific qualification (habilitation)
  • Conducting research with a focus on the genetic analysis of complex traits in crop plants
  • Planning and carrying out experiments in plant breeding, association mapping (GWAS), QTL mapping, transcriptomics, and molecular biological analyses
  • Analyzing large-scale genomic datasets using bioinformatic and statistical methods
  • Developing independent research projects, acquiring third-party funding, and supervising doctoral researchers and students
  • Providing research-based academic teaching (4 SWS) in the field of crop genetics (tutorials, practical courses, field excursions), with the aim of enabling students to conduct independent scientific work
  • Designing, preparing, administering, and grading academic assessments
  • Supporting academic organizational tasks (study program coordination, committee work, supervision of research groups and international collaborations)
  • Publishing research results

THIS MAKES YOU A GOOD FIT:

  • Completed university degree (state examination, diploma, master’s degree, or equivalent) in agricultural sciences, molecular biology, bioinformatics, or a related field, with at least good results
  • Completed PhD in one of the above-mentioned disciplines
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in genetics, gene mapping, transcriptomics, botany, bioinformatics, and plant molecular biology
  • Extensive laboratory experience with DNA and RNA techniques
  • Experience with field trials and phenotyping
  • Solid knowledge of statistical software
  • Proficient use of bioinformatic and statistical analysis tools for the evaluation of genome-wide datasets
  • Proven ability to conduct independent scientific work, including the planning and execution of own research projects
  • Excellent command of German and English, both written and spoken
  • Advanced skills in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong team-working skills combined with a high degree of independence and commitment

Become part of the team

We are seeking a motivated, dedicated, and experienced staff member to conduct research at the Chair of Crop Plant Genetics. The position is intended to support the preparation for an academic career through independent scientific research and teaching.

The role involves performing molecular biology laboratory work with crop plants. Genome-wide data will be analyzed using relevant bioinformatics and statistical software. As part of these responsibilities, the successful candidate will train Master’s and Bachelor’s students in both the laboratory and greenhouse.

Teaching duties include leading molecular biology lab courses, organizing field excursions, and delivering lectures in both German and English on molecular biology and genome analysis.
