PostDoctoral Researcher on the project Applying Interoperable Metadata Standards (AIMS) 2 - A Platform for Creating and Sharing Metadata Standards and their Integration into Scientific Workflows in Mechanical Engineering and Related Disciplines. The aim of the project is to study molecule crystals and metallic nanostructures by force microscopy methods under external illumination. Special attention is paid to comprehensive metadata.

THESE ARE YOUR TASKS:

  • prepare and investigate structures and interfaces using scanning probe methods under external optical excitation
  • analyze metadata related to force microscopy
  • evaluate data, discuss and present results and write manuscripts

THIS MAKES YOU A GOOD FIT:

  • completed academic university degree (state exam, diploma, master's degree or comparable degree) in physics, at least with good results
  • university doctoral degree in physics
  • knowledge of surface physics and scanning probe microscopy techniques
  • experience in the functional coating of surfaces
  • knowledge of data analysis with C++, Python, LabVIEW
  • ambition to unravel underlying physical mechanisms
  • very good mathematical skills
  • very good knowledge of written and spoken English
  • ability to work independently and in new subject areas
  • interest in interdisciplinary and collaborative research
